In July 2006 and April 2007, LUKOIL Overseas acquired shares in four offshore projects in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire. All areas are located in the deepwater part of the Gulf of Guinea and are geologically confined to the Tano oil and gas basin, where a number of large fields have been discovered.

By June 2009, 1,548 square kilometers of 3D seismic had been acquired on block CI-205. On the basis of the data obtained, a number of new prospects were identified within the block area.
